Fixing payroll one problem at a time

Shannon Theis started her first accounting business in 2006. She only really wanted to work on payroll issues, but knew the ‘normal’ way was to do bookkeeping too, so she started with both. By 2019 she was working on just payroll and decided to leave bookkeeping behind. 

In March 2020, she could see that there was a huge need in the industry for someone who could ‘clean up’ payroll problems and do the difficult, time-consuming work that large payroll companies aren’t able or willing to get involved in. Now Shannon focuses on ‘restoration’ – helping your clients get their payroll back in compliance.

I’m truly an accountant’s accountant – there’s nothing I love more than digging in and solving a puzzle that no one else can figure out.

While accounting and bookkeeping principles haven’t changed through the years, the tools that we use have. I’ve become certified in different accounting software systems so I can be as flexible as possible as I work for different businesses.

Plus, I’m a bit of a nerd, and learning about a new way of looking at my job is always fascinating to me!

That nerdiness is part of why I’m so good at fixing broken payroll. It’s a giant puzzle that I can’t wait to delve into, and I won’t stop until I’ve solved it. For you, that means the confidence that your client’s payroll problems will be fixed

Jamie Theis, COO

Jamie Theis, COO

Jamie is Shannon’s right-hand man (and husband!) and provides the operational and IT support at Payroll Restoration.

For decades, Jamie has enjoyed rolling up his sleeves and wearing all the hats in a variety of different businesses. From the service department to sales to supporting large-scale computer software upgrades, Jamie is happy to help wherever needed and loves the challenge of a new problem to solve.

Jamie is also responsible for payroll in River Valley Accounting, but is happy to pass the more complex issues to Shannon!

 Jamie is also the Chief Firearms instructor at Stop Tac and is a USCCA & NRA Certified Instructor.

Alex Hall, Project Manager

I grew up in Mankato, left to join the army, and have traveled and worked around the US and globally.

I’ve always enjoyed learning about what makes a business tick, and how to make sure all the different parts integrate and work well together, from companies with hundreds of thousands of employees to small businesses. 

I support the Payroll Restoration team by making sure their systems and processes work well and ensure the process is seamless for you, the client. 

I’m currently getting my business administration degree from the University of Maryland Global Campus, something I started while I was in the field in Afghanistan. I’m looking forward to completing it next year!

Rebecca Schwenger, Payroll Restoration Project Coordinator

I love to keep people organized, and wherever I work, I whip everyone into shape. My role is to collate all the information we receive in for any payroll restoration project, and make sure our specialists have all the documentation they need to process the case.

I have 2 grown kids, 2 grandkids, and we have 3 dogs and 3 cats which include a couple of rescues. My husband and I are in a classic rock band, and [most] weekends you can find us playing locally or even further afield.
